We use ultra-fine diamond sequences specifically designed for Calacatta's sensitive white surface — restoring pure white tone and removing etch marks without disturbing the bold vein patterns that define each unique slab.

Bookmatched Calacatta feature walls and kitchen islands are polished as a unit so veining alignment is maintained across every joint — a detail only a specialist crew can deliver.

What makes Calacatta marble hard to polish

Calacatta is a white Italian marble with bold grey and gold veins. It is calcium-based, so lemon juice, vinegar and many bathroom cleaners can leave a dull mark within minutes. On a white background, every one of those marks shows.

White marble also needs care with water. Too much water sitting on or under the stone can bring out yellow or brown tones, so we control the water we use at each step. The aim is to restore the shine without changing the colour of the slab.

— Signs

When Calacatta needs professional work

Dull rings and spots

Glasses, perfume bottles and cleaning sprays leave etch marks on vanity tops and floors.

Yellow patches

Age, water and old wax can turn parts of the slab yellow, and normal cleaning will not lift it.

Faded shine in walkways

Sand on shoes wears the polish down along hallways and around doors.

Lost contrast in the veins

A dull surface makes the grey and gold veining look flat.

How we polish Calacatta

1. Inspect the slab

We check the finish, stains, cracks and any old coatings, then give you a fixed-price quote.

2. Treat stains first

We deal with yellowing and marks before polishing, so we do not seal them in.

3. Polish in stages

We use fine diamond pads and move up gradually, to protect the veins and the white tone.

4. Seal and hand over

We apply a sealer that suits white marble and show you which cleaners to use.

— Questions

Calacatta polishing questions

Can you polish Calacatta kitchen tops as well as floors?

Yes. We polish floors, kitchen tops, vanities, walls and stairs.

Will sealing stop etch marks?

No sealer fully stops acid from etching marble. It slows stains, so you still need to wipe spills quickly.

Should I choose a polished or honed finish?

Polished Calacatta looks brighter. A honed finish hides light marks better, which helps in busy kitchens.
